Florida Nursing Homes Failing The Test; Make Watch List

36% of Nursing Homes in Florida have been placed on a “Watch List” by the Agency for Health Care Administration, also known as AHCA. A recent Consulate Healthcare study reveals that these at-risk Florida nursing homes that made it on the watch list are understaffed and non-responsive to resident requests. This results in patient neglect which can result in nursing home resident falls or pressure ulcer formation.

The Florida Nursing Home Watch List was created to warn the public that the nursing home has a history of resident neglect and health warning violations. As of the release of the 2013 study, 139 of the 682 nursing homes in Florida are listed on the Watch List.
